Ptarmigan Ptarmigan is a modern ceildh band which plays a mix of traditional Scottish, English and Irish music, alongside modern folk from recent years. About Us The band comprises of a duo and caller, the former being brothers. John Brown is well known in the North of England for his accomplished playing of the English concertina. He has entertained crowds at The Whitby Folk Festival, as well as working in Ireland with leading dance organisations. He also supports the line up with piano, guitar and backing vocals. Anthony Brown is a Royal Academy taught professional flautist and this shows through his amazing speed and beautiful tone. Anthony is also a very accomplished pianist, and teaches professionally. Together, drawing on their influences from Ireland and Scotland, the brown Brothers create a range of atmospheres through all modes of music. They are also able to play just about anything you ask for, through their ability to play by ear. All music is 100 % live. We can play for almost any event, and can tailor our material to suit your theme.......be it American, Irish or Scottish. We most commonly provide a full ceilidh service at weddings, where we include a dance caller within the price who will teach the dances and run the evening from the mic. We also play at birthday functions, St Pat's night, and even entertain at coorporate venues and pubs. Prices These vary according to your requirements. Basic entertainment packages start at £200, with wedding packages starting from £350.
